Musée Lambinet, Versailles

Today I visited the Musée Lambinet, in Versailles.
They had an interesting collection of sculptures and artifacts.
They had a special exhibition called "The Fiber Heroes".
Here is the huge copper plate, engraved and then inked up to print the fabric.
A detail of the plate. Here is the information about the exhibition, from the website.
The story told by the toile de Jouy
As part of national commemorations of the bicentenary of the death of Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf (1738-1815), founder of the Manufacture de Jouy, the Lambinet Museum presents the exhibition "The fiber heroes" .Celle it proposes to find, with the printed canvas, reflects the ideals and events that interest the company at the end of the eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century. Characters in the paintings, faithful to the neoclassical canons fashionable in their time, often represent ancient heroes. Other paintings depict episodes and heroes of literary, scientific or contemporary military. Reflections of the news, they also show the flight of the first balloons or even significant naval battles. These ultra-narrative sets were mainly produced by the Manufacture de Jouy-en-Josas, but also manufactures Rouen, Nantes and Mulhouse. Mostly borrowed from the Museum of Toile de Jouy in Jouy-en-Josas, exposed paintings form a complement to the exhibition "Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf, 1738-1815; the toiles de Jouy, a human adventure, industrial and artistic" , held in Jouy from 15 September to 27 December 2015.

The gardens had some colourful flowers.
