Frederic Marès Museum

Frederic Marès was a collector and a sculptor. He collected everything..
He collected 250 of these small statues, offerings to an Iberian god. They were amazing, and all were different. The tallest was 10 cm.
The Roman collection...
Romanesque and Gothic art...
I took photos of a fraction of the collection.
After seeing so many, you start to look at the differences and for the strange.
A collection of the crucified Christ, and there were at least 20 of them.
A collection of crosses...
From inside of a house.
Works down stairs, from the 4th-16 Centuries.
I've seen the mans head before in France, and so you can tell there was lots of sharing...
I love capitals that have interesting designs...
This is the start of the late Gothic and Baroque (just look for some gold).
Madonna and child, becomes a trio, with Maryanne, the mother of Mary.
I was really starting to get really tired, and there was 2 more floors to go!
He collected everything you can think of, fans, pipes, watches, jewellery, photographs, toys, keys, pharmacy bottles,.... etc. I took photos of hardly anything (I was tired of looking!). When you see how much he actually collected, it's amazing!
This was his private library and his own sculptures.
Walking sticks...
Pharmacy bottles...
A whole room full of fans.
He had a collection of weapons and helmets.

Here is a link to the museum....
