9th of August, Whale Watching in Jervis Bay.

We started at the shop, "Jervis Bay Wild'... and picked up our tickets.

Waited at the wharf.

It was calm at Huskinson.

A great sunny day, but cold out on the water. We were about 15 on the boat, it was the end of the whale watching season. So there was no guarantee for seeing any whales.

The scenes were breathtaking anyway. Looking South, down the coast.

Looking North.

We waited for a bit, it felt like the scene from "Jaws" the movie, when they are waiting on the boat for the shark to appear. We sailed about 5km out of the heads, at first you see a jet of water, spray high in the air... and then we chased them. We saw a couple of Humpback whales and followed them for a couple of hours.

We waited a lot, as the whales dive down for 10-15 minutes every time. We had a great time and the results were amazing.

The white part is the belly of the whale.

Sorry that this one is out of focus, but they came right up against the boat. I was in shock, and nearly dropped my camera.

After another wait, they were behind us, thrashing out of the water.

Our final wave goodbye. Our 2 hour cruise, became a 3 hour cruise, but it was so worth it.

The rocks of Bowen Island.
