National Gallery of Australia, 11th of August...

I hadn't been to the National Gallery of Australia since 2003, so it was great catching up...

There is a fabulous exhibition, not to miss, the "National Indigenous Art Triennial".

There is a great kid friendly interactive section.

We then went outside to the sculpture garden, for an after school snack. I caught up with some familiar european friends...

Canberra has so much public sculpture, it's almost on every corner...but here, it's easy to spot.

Boys had a great time, spotting sculptures,  running and rolling down the grass hills, but we found out, you can't take sticks into the gallery.

National Portrait Gallery, 8th of August...

I quickly popped into the National Portrait Gallery for an hour, thinking I could just zoom past the portraits... but I was really interested in reading about all of the characters and to brush up on my Australian history...and so I'll have to go back for a long visit.
The building is modern and sleek...
James Angus "Geo Face Distributor".

Howard Arkley, "Nick Cave".

Evert Ploeg "Derek Denton"

It was good to revisit some Australian friends...Grace Cossington-Smith's, "Self Portrait".

 John Brack, "Tam Purves".

Charles Blackman, "Lure of the Sun".

Jenny Sages, "Emily Kame Kngwarreye with Lily".

 Kerrie Lester, "Cathy Freeman".
I was just at the right time for a great sun photo. Click HERE to find out more about the gallery.

6th of August, Commonwealth Park.

Not far from home, is a park with lots of birds. The boys had a great time looking at the wildlife and playing on the cool playground castle.

Royal Australian Mint, 6th of August.

On the 6th of August, we visited the Royal Australian Mint, and I haven't been here since the 70's... Entrance is free and so is 2 hours of parking.
We are getting a good lot of sunny days, but it's still a bit cold.
They have activity books for the kids and so, there was a quest to find the answers...

They have a video about the Mint and a free tour. But no free samples...

Louis the school Platypus, came a long for the visit too...

Boys love money...

We visited on the weekend, and so there was no live action of the making of the coins. The boys made a uncirculated, limited edition $1 coin for $3. Click HERE to find out more about the mint.

We made it to Canberra, Australia... Questacon 30th of July 2017

We visited The National Science and Technology Centre, Questacon... and everyone had a great day.

Boys were flying like birds.

We spent about over 4 hours inside... It's a fabulous place for  kids, young and old. Parking is free on the weekends. Click HERE for the link to Questacon.
